How it all started:

The idea that led to the creation of LMB Housing Services stemmed from our own experience. We were 2 French nationals (now both Singapore PRs) who needed to stay in Singapore for a few months. When we arrived in Singapore, we did not know how long we will have to stay there and we were looking for a hassle free solution to rent a home. We could not find one...

  • We were not ready to commit to a fixed 2 years lease with no exit clause (this is the norm in Singapore for standard residential leases).
  • We were not sponsored by a big company that could have paid for a service apartment. Traditional serviced apartments were way too expensive for us.
  • It was ok for us to live a little further away from the CBD: after all a 15-20mn commute to work is considered as very good in any major international city. We did not need to be 5-10 mn away from work if this meant a massive cost increase of our housing budget.
  • We wanted to live in a nice flat, ideally in a full facilities condominium to enjoy the benefits of a swimming pool, barbecue pits, a gym, etc.
  • We did not want to bother with the hassle of setting up all that is needed when you move in a new home:
    • Understand how the utilities (water and electricity) work in Singapore and commit to a new utility contract (which requires a deposit).
    • Understand which are the cable TV providers, how it works, select the right price plan and set it all up.
    • Understand which are the Internet Service Providers, select the right price plan and set it all up.
    • Find a housekeeper.
    • Find a solution to tend to the small issues that always happen in a flat: broken washing machine, small repairs, aircon maintenance, etc.
    • Bring or buy what is needed for the day to day life in a flat (on top of all the furniture and equipments), such as bedsheets, towels, cutlery, small electrical appliances...

We wanted something that was cosy, ready and working from day 1 and we were ready to pay a (reasonable) premium for this. But we could not find it!

We then realized that we were probably not alone in this situation and after an in depth analysis of the market, we realized there was a huge gap between what was available and what we were looking for. Then we run out of excuses for NOT starting the business and LMB Housing Services was incorporated in 2006.

 

How we do it:

LMB Housing Services:

  • contracts long term leases with landlords.
  • subscribes to utilities (water, electricity).
  • subscribes to cable TV.
  • subscribes to Internet Connections (cable or ADSL).
  • upgrades the accommodation so that it is fully equipped with standard furnishing and equipment.
  • rents the apartments to private individuals and corporate clients.

Our monthly rental rates include:

  • Weekly Housekeeping.
  • Cable TV subscription.
  • Unlimited High Speed Internet subscription.
  • Wireless internet.
  • Normal maintenance and repair costs.
  • Utility subscriptions (Check Utility usage and Rates/Prices).
  • Hot-line and email for our customers to contact us about any issue in the unit.
